Copper information
- Copper is found in all body tissues. It facilitates iron absorption, aids in the conversion of tyrosine into melanin pigment and plays a role in the formation of the myelin sheath around nerve fibers. Copper assists vitamin C in the formation of elastin. It also participates in a number of reactions in the general metabolism of the body. Importantly, copper is a component of the enzyme, superoxide dismutase, one of the body's defenders against pollution damage and free radical effects that contribute to aging.
